
Senior DBA Engineer II (MSSQL)

- Develop efficient data models and database schemas supporting critical business applications while working closely with application development teams, providing guidance on best practices for database integration.
- Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and team alignment.
- Implement and maintain scripts and tools to automate database deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Monitor and tune SQL Server performance, troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal operation.
- Conduct performance testing and implement necessary adjustments for database systems.
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME), supporting other DBAs and technical teams on complex database issues and projects.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching to keep systems up to date and secure.
- Assess new SQL Server features and enhancements, recommending and implementing upgrades as necessary.
- 7+ years of experience in SQL Server database architecture and engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in T-SQL, performance tuning, indexing, and database design.
- 7+ years of experience with SQL Server versions 2012 and above, including high-availability solutions (e.g., Always On Availability Groups).
- 7+ years of experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk or Dynatrace.
- 7+ years of strong scripting skills using PowerShell or other automation languages.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and/or equivalent military experience.
- Experience with cloud database solutions such as Azure SQL or AWS RDS for SQL Server.
- Experience in relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator).
- Strong analytical skills demonstrated over the past 8+ years as well as problem-solving abilities to navigate complex database issues.
- Effective and proven communication skills, capable of collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders over a minimum of 8 years of experience.
- This role requires being on-call during non-standard and/or overnight hours on a rotational basis.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
- This is a full-time, direct-hire position, and no contract options for unsolicited agency submissions will be considered.
