OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gallagher Contracts Lead to join our legal team! The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading and overseeing the company's contractual agreements, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and mitigating risks associated with contracts. This position offers the flexibility of remote work and includes handling both onshore and offshore teams of licensed attorneys, paralegals and support staff providing contract negotiation and associated support services, as well as overseeing the implementation of AI and technology to enhance contract management and efficiency.
How you'll make an impact
  • Oversee the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide range of contracts including carrier and brokerage agreements, client contracts, and vendor agreements.
  • Evaluate the potential to consolidate and centralize the contracts function and related resources across multiple company business units and geographies.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on contract-related matters to various divisions and departments within the company.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Identify potential risks in contract terms and propose solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and align contract terms accordingly.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and legal developments affecting contracts.
  • Manage and lead both onshore and offshore teams of contracts lawyers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support.
  • Oversee and coordinate with teams providing contract support services, ensuring quality and efficiency.
  • Work with various business units to develop, standardize and improve contract templates and playbooks.
  • Develop and implement contract management policies and procedures, including assisting with the design and implementation of updated intake, negotiation and storage practices.
  • Oversee the performance and development of team members, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
  • Lead the implementation of AI and technology solutions to improve contract management processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Evaluate and integrate technological tools that streamline contract lifecycle management and reduce manual workload.
  • Utilize analytics and operational metrics to monitor contract management performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
About YouRequired:
  • J.D. Degree.
  • Must be licensed in at least one state.
  • A minimum of 6 years legal contracts experience.
  • 3 years relevant commercial generalist experience, including hands on experience reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and interpreting a variety of agreements.
  • Prior experience in a contracts function, including the management of other professionals and working with contract management systems.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking and analytical ability.
  • Ability to understand and integrate details of the business to ensure new and existing business relationships are workable across functions.
Highly Preferred:
  • 10+ years of experience in contract law, preferably within the insurance or financial services industry
  • Strong understanding of insurance-related contracts and regulatory requirements.
  • Shown leadership skills with experience in managing and developing both onshore and offshore teams.
  • Familiarity with AI and technology solutions for contract management.
  • In-house experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with a CLM tool.
  • Evaluation and implementation of legal process outsourcing is a plus.
