
Licensed Veterinary Technician - Surgery

- Minimum of 2 years experience as a surgery veterinary technician
- An active LVT license is strongly preferred
- Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring, surgical prep & sterile technique
- Advanced knowledge and experience in anesthesia and analgesia (positive pressure ventilation, capnography, invasive blood pressure monitoring) and familiarity with a variety of surgical procedures and equipment.
- Excellent communication & problem-solving abilities (judgment, logic, creativity, conflict resolution)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Able to observe the behavior and condition of animals
- Experience with advanced imaging (CT, Fluoroscopy) preferred
- Comfortable with anesthetic patient monitoring of ASA I-III (preferred experience with ASA I-V)
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and handle animals of all sizes
- Strong understanding of surgical anatomy and aseptic technique.
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Familiarity with surgical instruments and procedures.
- Ability to respond to surgical or anesthetic emergencies.
- Able to obtain blood pressure, interpret basic ECG, Sp02, and ETC02 and integrate clinical signs with disease processes to assist doctors in early and appropriate intervention of patient care
- Flexible schedule required, with potential for on-call and weekend shifts.
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Surgical Assistance: Induce, maintain, and recover anesthesia, following surgical suite protocols.
- Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance with doctor recommended treatment options, medications, and financial assistance options.
- Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
