As a member of our design team, you will be working on concurrent design projects, including the enhancement of existing designs. Collaboration is key, and you'll work closely with colleagues in product design, research and development, manufacturing, and sales to transform ideas into functional prototypes. Your primary goal will be to create highly functional, profitable products that meet user requirements while effectively adhering to project roadmaps and timelines.
Our ideal candidate will have previous professional experience as a design engineer, preferably in product innovation and product design utilizing 3D modeling and FEA optimization.Design Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:
- R&D and Innovation:
- Evaluate and propose current products and new product innovations.
- Create multiple iterations of design prototypes using computer-aided design tools, FEA, CMC and 3D printing processes.
- Project management:
- Estimate and establish cost parameters for designs.
- Create project schedules for multiple concurrent design projects.
- Present project progress and challenges during design review meetings.
- Testing and validation:
- Conduct tests in the research and development lab to revise and improve product design.
- Assist in the R&D test lab to set up, monitor and run various tests.
- Assist in R&D test fixture design.
- Engineering support roles:
- Support IATF 16949 quality management system within product engineering.
- Duties will include engineering drawing maintenance, engineering change notices, BOM and costing maintenance in the company ERP system and engineering project documentation.
- Assist in providing engineering support to sales, marketing, and customer service departments.
- Assist in communicating with major truck OEM engineering departments.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar required.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in an engineering role is required. Product innovation, research and development disciplines preferred.
- Experience with Pro-E Creo 3D modeling software or equivalent required.
- Experience with standard engineering drawing platforms.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong aptitude for creating detailed drawings and instructions.
- Strong presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Accurate and precise attention to detail.
- Creative and innovative thinker and planner.
- Self-motivated and works independently or as an integral part of a team as required.
- Experience with Creo-Simulation FEA software or equivalent preferred
- Some experience with code development (Python or C++) preferred.
- Some experience with embedded applications and sensors preferred.
