As a member of a multidisciplinary R&D team, you'll assist in developing precision mechanical subsystems for cryogenic and vacuum-based instrumentation. This role supports new product introductions, custom development, and sustaining engineering efforts, with a focus on learning, collaboration, and quality.Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and ExpectationsAssist in the design and development of mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystemsSupport engineering tasks throughout the development cycle-from concept and simulation to prototyping, testing, and releaseCreate and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, reports, and test proceduresParticipate in analysis, prototyping, and validation testing to ensure performance and reliabilityCollaborate with electrical, software, firmware, and manufacturing engineers to integrate mechanical designs into complex systemsCommunicate effectively with project management and manufacturing teams to support development and production goalsContribute to technical design reviews and provide feedback to improve quality and manufacturabilityManage assigned tasks and support project deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic R&D environmentLearn and apply best practices in mechanical design, simulation, and precision instrumentationStay engaged with emerging technologies and engineering tools relevant to mechanical product developmentMinimum Qualifications (Experience / Education)Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering0-3 years experience in mechanical design and product developmentCompetencies // Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's)Foundational understanding of engineering principles including mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials scienceProficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for modeling and drawing creationStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsEffective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teamsAbility to manage multiple tasks and contribute to project goals in a fast-paced environmentEagerness to learn and grow in a hands-on engineering roleFamiliarity with mechanical drawing standards and basic manufacturing practicesExposure to ERP systems or engineering documentation workflowsInterest in cross-disciplinary integration and systems-level thinkingCommitment to continuous learning and professional developmentPreferred QualificationsInternship or academic project experience with mechanical design or prototypingExposure to vacuum or cryogenic systemsExperience with vibration analysis or mechanical simulation tools (e.g., FEA)Hands-on experience in a machine shop or fabrication environmentFamiliarity with scientific instrumentation or high-precision mechanical systemsPhysical RequirementsThis position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds as part of the essential job duties.
