- 10+ years MEP experience working on existing buildings
- Experience with boilers, HVAC, and other mechanical/electrical/plumbing components in existing buildings.
- Familiar with relevant NYC design codes
- Ability to communicate with clients and team regularly
- Experience providing technical direction to project managers and cad technicians
- Design and develop comprehensive MEP systems for renovation projects, ensuring compliance with NYC building codes and regulations.
- Conduct site surveys and assessments of existing buildings to evaluate current MEP systems and propose upgrades or modifications.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software tools.
- Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other project team members to integrate MEP systems seamlessly into overall building designs.
- Perform energy modeling and analysis to optimize building performance and achieve sustainability goals.
- Develop cost estimates and equipment schedules for MEP systems.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure proper installation and commissioning of MEP systems.
- Conduct quality control reviews of design documents and construction submittals.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and drafters.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends, technologies, and code requirements.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements and design solutions.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget constraints.
- Troubleshoot and resolve MEP-related issues during construction and post-occupancy phases.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of New York. (Highly preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in MEP engineering, with a focus on commercial and residential projects.
- Extensive knowledge of NYC Building Code, Energy Code, and other relevant regulations.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other industry-standard design software.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems for various building types.
