Assistant Operations ManagerLocation: On-site, Nevada IA manufacturing and steel fabrication environment (shop floor leadership)
Reports to: Operations Manager

Our operations team thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where hands-on leadership and continuous improvement are essential for success.Role SummarySupport the Operations Manager in driving quality, throughput, and safety on the shop floor. Oversee and improve the Quality Management System (QMS), maintain AISC/WPS standards, train teams, and support daily production across machine, material handling, and welding operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can coach skilled tradespeople, maintain process discipline, and keep production on schedule.Key OutcomesMaintain and enhance the QMS to meet industry standards and customer expectations.Improve schedule adherence and production efficiency.Increase first-pass yield and reduce rework through training and process improvements.Prepare the shop for AISC accreditation and other relevant quality certifications.Ensure shop safety regulations are enforced and promote a proactive safety culture.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, implement, and enforce the QMS.Perform inspections (machine setups, assembly, structural welding) using proper measurement tools.Maintain and update WPS, weld standards, and SOPs; coordinate CWI inspections and AISC verifications.Track and report inspection results; identify training needs and corrective actions.Coach production staff; ensure accurate and complete floor drawings before release.Maintain safety compliance and promote safety best practices.Assist with personnel and job scheduling to optimize efficiency.QualificationsEducation:High school diploma required; Associate degree in a related field preferred.Must-Have:Shop-floor experience in welding or millwright work with ability to coach and correct.Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-de-escalation skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office; strong math and blueprint-reading skills.Familiarity with AWS D1.1 / AWS D2.4, tolerances, and measuring devices.Nice-to-Have:Experience leading AISC accreditation efforts.Background in SOP creation and process standardization.Work EnvironmentEarly morning starts; occasional long days or night shifts depending on workload.Hands-on, blue-collar environment requiring floor presence and direct engagement with teams.
