Job Title: Sr. Paralegal/Legal Assistant IILocation: Los Angeles, CaliforniaCompany: Zachary Piper SolutionsClearance Required: Ability to obtain a Public TrustFull Job Description:Zachary Piper Solutions is looking for a Sr. Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join a growing team in support of a government agency. This position will be fully onsite in Los Angeles, California.Responsibilities/Overview:
  • Performs specialized legal research and writing in support of work in assigned area of criminal or civil
prosecution, including research and analysis of statutes, legislative intent, judicial precedents, agencyrules and regulations, and law review articles as they related to assigned cases to include those of anespecially complex or unprecedented nature.
  • Utilizes a variety of automated resources to research case or program specific legal matters, and
to participate in assigned areas of criminal or civil proceedings, e.g., electronic discovery.
  • Assists in the development of case referrals by ensuring that referrals meet agency and USAO
standards for litigation; reviewing and evaluating referrals to determine the need for additionalinformation and evidence, and planning a comprehensive approach to obtain this information andevidence; assisting the assigned attorney(s) regarding the merits and weaknesses of specificreferrals based upon applicable law, evidence of liability and damages, and potential defenses;helping the USAO develop new referrals, by ensuring a good working relationship with clientagencies and the public, and by assisting in training for federal, state, and local agencies in theassigned area, preparing informational literature, etc.
  • Performs a variety of tasks associated with litigation of cases in assigned specialty area including:
receiving and analyzing incoming pleadings and correspondence; determining appropriate action andnotes time limitations for responses; drafting correspondence and legal documents for attorney'ssignature; drafting proposed orders and decrees for signature of judges and magistrates.
  • Assists in pretrial preparation by preparing, scheduling, reviewing, and organizing discovery; notifying,
interviewing, and managing witnesses; researching case law; supporting assigned attorney(s) in courtproceedings by briefing attorney on pertinent facts, issues, and case law, and by compiling, organizing,and indexing exhibits.Required Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Requires paralegal certificate, or Juris Doctorate, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school,
having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience; or anequivalent level of education may be substituted Additionally at least two years of litigationparalegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) is required.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and
legal research resources.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing,
databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, andhardware systems.
  • Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and
resources.
  • *Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • *Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance.
Desired:
  • Experience working in a Government and/or Litigation Support environment in conjunction with basic
qualifications, valued.
  • Trial experience very helpful.
  • Experience with Relativity or similar applications, strongly preferred.
  • Current or active clearance.
Compensation and Benefits:· $74,000 - $80,000 Dependent on experience· Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and Holidays.This job opens for applications on 8/6/25.
