- Support the development of the ADJL's strategic goals, policies, long-range plans, mission, and other initiatives with the chief curator and ADJL library committee, and implement them with the educational mission of the George Washington University while adhering to best practices
- Track all ADJL expenditures to ensure all essential services are provided
- Maintain ADJL recordkeeping procedures and prepare reports related to library activities for the Museum administration
- Recruit, train, and oversee ADJL volunteers, interns, and student assistants.
- Provide in-person, online, and telephone reference assistance to the Museum staff, GWU community, scholars, and members of the public; provide library orientation and assistance to GWU classes and other academic entities
- In collaboration with the chief curator and ADJ Library committee plan for future development of the collection.
- Maintain and perform collections management policy and procedures in line with the missions of the Museum and GWU
- Assist the chief curator, ADJ Library committee, and digital assets manager, in developing a roadmap for digitization of the ADJL's print and archival collections; establish and maintain digital repositories and archives; support the establishment and maintenance of digital repositories and archives
- Collaborate with the George Washington University Libraries and Academic Innovation (GWLAI) and departments and as well as other research and academic libraries
- In collaboration with the chief curator, the ADJ Library committee, develop and execute strategies to strengthen the ADJL's scholarly role and stature as one of the top textile history libraries in North America
- Contribute to library fundraising efforts by working with the development department to develop proposals, identify funding sources, and engage with donors/potential donors and promote a positive image of the ADJL.
- Coordinate and mount the annual Textile Research Day for students and recent graduates who have engaged in textile studies or practice
- Represent the library in the academic community and maintain an active professional role and visibility by engaging in collegial exchange and dialogue
Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- MLIS degree from ALA-accredited program is preferred
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong computer and software skills, including the use of content management software is desired
- Highly motivated, cooperative, and flexible individual willing to strive for excellence in a dynamic museum environment
- Awareness of administrative and technical services practices in special libraries
- Copy cataloging experience
- Experience with library cataloging tools, such as MARC, OCLC Client, web-based WorldCat, or Ex Libris Alma is preferred
- Experience in an art library or museum library
- Previous original cataloging experience or coursework
- Experience with library collections development is desired
- Experience with archives management or coursework is preferred
- Copy editing or editing experience for art publications is desired
