️ Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
️ BCLS certification must be current and verifiable
️ Iowa Mandatory Reporter Certificates (Child and Dependent Adult Abuse) required by start date
️ Must be available for full-time schedule with flexibility for rotating weekends/holidays
️ Documented ability to manage 56 patients per shift safely and efficientlyPreferred But Not RequiredPrevious Med/Surg or Telemetry experience highly preferred
Familiarity with EPIC or similar EMR systems
Charge or preceptor experience is a plus
Strong understanding of med-surg pharmacology and care protocolsWhat You'll Do Daily ResponsibilitiesAs a Med Surg RN in Ottumwa, you're at the frontline of patient care, providing holistic, evidence-based nursing to a diverse adult inpatient population. You'll be expected to:Complete head-to-toe assessments and individualized care plansAdminister meds safely and timely using the 10 Rights of Medication AdministrationAccurately document assessments, interventions, responses, and educationRecognize and escalate changes in patient conditions with clinical urgencyCoordinate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and aidesManage IVs, wound care, catheter care, post-op recovery, and telemetry monitoringEducate patients and families on discharge needs, medications, and health literacyMaintain clean documentation, reduce variance reports, and meet core measuresAssist in rapid response or code situations as neededBe a team player who can help a colleague, manage stress, and stay solutions-focusedProvide input into QI efforts and performance improvement initiativesYou'll Be a Great Fit If YouWork efficiently without compromising patient safety
