- Assists therapist in development of a comprehensive specialized treatment plan that includes long- and short-term goals.
- Provide physical therapist services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. PTAs implement components of patient care, obtain data related to the treatments provided, and collaborate with the PT to modify care as necessary.
- Instructs, motivates, and assists patients to learn and improve functional activities (example ambulation, transfers, and bed mobility)
- Implements and coordinates intervention plans, under supervision (direct, in-direct, on site or off-site) of a PT, in the following areas: range of motion, muscle strength testing, gross motor coordination, endurance training, balance re-education, postural corrections, energy conservation, joint protection, proper body mechanics, positioning, fitness and lifestyle modifications.
- Modification and/or progression of treatment as necessary based on patient response, within the scope of the established plan of care by the PT.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties within scope as assigned.
- Current, full, active and unrestricted license as a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e. Puerto Rico) of the United States, or District of Columbia. A copy of your PTA license must be submitted with your application.
- Associate degree from an accredited community college, junior college, college or university in a physical therapy assistant education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy
- Education.
- DEA License
- For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Medical Technician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Current BLS certification. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping and lifting to 15 lbs.
- US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
- Must relocate to project site for the duration of the contract.
- Pass a Child abuse and neglect check.
- Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance
