This position would be based out of the Portland, ME or Auburn, NH office, but you would be part of a larger New England transportation design group with offices in South Burlington, VT; Burlington & Boston, MA; and several other satellite offices. The New England structures group consists of about 30 bridge staff with varied experience and project backgrounds.Your Key ResponsibilitiesLead bridge design projects of varying size and complexity through all phases of designDevelop design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimatesPrepare, check, and deliver engineering calculations, reports, and technical studiesGuide and mentor junior and intermediate staffBuild a strong culture of quality design and teamworkAssist with or lead bridge inspection and load rating assignmentsCarry out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projectsDevelop and present information to clients and the publicCoordinate with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvalsAdditional duties may include assisting the transportation leadership with project pursuits and proposal preparationYour Capabilities and CredentialsThorough understanding of MaineDOT, Maine Turnpike and/or NHDOT design standards and practicesStrong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design SpecificationsExperience in a bridge engineering technical lead roleAbility to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and scheduleEffective verbal, visual, and written communication skillsProficient in MicroStation, MathCAD, & Microsoft Office SuiteExperience using bridge design and analysis software (Merlin-Dash, CSiBridge, STAAD, AASHTOware, LPile, Group, LEAP-steel/concrete, etc.)Experience with bridge inspection and load ratingAbility to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to othersEducation and ExperienceBachelor degree in Civil Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer required, Master degree in Structural Engineering desired.Minimum of 10 years of experiencePosition will primarily work in an office setting; may require some field work.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
