- Perform thorough patient assessments including medical history, physical examinations, and interpretation of diagnostic tests.
- Provide comprehensive medical management for newborns, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
- Diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions including infectious diseases, chronic illnesses, and acute medical emergencies.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests such as blood work, imaging studies, and EKGs.
- Prescribe and manage medications, ensuring patient understanding of treatment plans.
- Provide immunizations, preventive screenings, and health education for patients and families.
- Deliver both outpatient primary care and inpatient hospital coverage, including admitting and managing hospitalized patients.
- Participate in obstetric and pediatric coverage when within scope of training and facility needs.
- Manage transitions of care from inpatient to outpatient settings to ensure continuity and follow-up.
- Participate in rotational on-call duties including nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Respond to urgent patient needs, emergency department consultations, and inpatient issues during call periods.
- Work collaboratively with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, and other allied health staff to coordinate care.
- Engage in case discussions, peer reviews, and interdisciplinary meetings to enhance quality of care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and families, considering cultural backgrounds and language needs.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records in accordance with IHS and federal guidelines.
- Comply with facility protocols, infection control measures, and safety standards.
- Participate in quality improvement projects, chart reviews, and performance audits.
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
- Active, unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
- At least one year of clinical experience post-residency preferred; new graduates considered.
- Experience in rural or underserved healthcare settings strongly preferred.
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (typical)
- On-call rotations: Evenings, weekends, and federal holidays as scheduled
- May involve coverage for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department consults.
