- Responsible for the discipline-specific planning, work distribution, and leadership and adherence to the schedule, and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects.
- Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
- Develops scope of work and level of effort and manages adherence to scope and budget on complex or unusual engineering projects within discipline.
- Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline.
- Provides technical guidance and mentoring to team members to achieve overall project objectives on complex or unusual engineering projects.
- Coordinates technical aspects of the project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline on complex or unusual engineering projects.
- Leads discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Assists with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work for other disciplines on multi-discipline projects on complex or unusual engineering projects
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 8 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience, or
- PhD in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience
- Shows excellent technical knowledge and quality work in multiple discipline projects with architects and engineers by preparing plumbing and mechanical drawings and specifications
- Prioritizes tasks and displays accountability to the project team to deliver projects that are of high quality, on-time, and within budget and scope, and to the client's satisfaction
- Performs plumbing and mechanical engineering analyses (such as heating/cooling, flow rate, pressure, pipe sizing calculations) and designs for one or more of the following building or facility systems: hydraulic systems, pumping/piping/plumbing systems, and HVAC systems
- Inspects existing building or facility assets and equipment to determine their condition and safety. Makes recommendations concerning any needed modifications and repairs
- Leads and independently designs and completes tasks required of the plumbing and mechanical disciplines across various projects. Manages time, forecasts and communicates discipline project development needs
- Designs plumbing and mechanical plans within an engineering consulting environment
- Supports projects during design, procurement, and construction phases. Responds to bidder’s questions and contractor’s RFIs. Reviews shop drawings, and inspects work for conformance with plans
- Creates detailed project proposals, scopes of work, work plans, and fee estimates for Mechanical and Plumbing disciplines
- Reviews engineering plans for compliance with applicable codes, guidelines, and standards
- Assists in developing design and commissioning guidelines
- Demonstrates vision beyond the task at hand and anticipates risks and effects of their actions
- Understands and supports the objectives that are responsible for successful project delivery, recognizing how multiple disciplines influence project development. Coordinates with other disciplines to ensure consistency in deliverables.
- Uses refined technical skills to identify problems, develop appropriate solutions, and make good decisions, by knowing what tools to use for effective solutions and optimal outcomes on multi-discipline projects
- Applies an accrued knowledge base to innovate project efficiencies. Optimizes workflow and design processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous team improvement
- 10+ years of relevant experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) License
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Florida Building, Mechanical and Plumbing Codes
- In-depth knowledge and experience with Fire Protection, Fire Suppression, and Florida Fire Prevention Code
- Prior Aviation, Industrial, or Transportation Experience
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
