- Apply your knowledge in Food & Personal Care, Bioprocessing, Oil & Gas, Chemical, Power, Manufacturing and Industrial and shipbuilding facilities/systems (Conceptual Design).
- Ensure understanding and compliance with owner’s requirements of the facility or corporate standards related to mechanical design.
- Confirm and review applicable codes and standards such as, but not limited to, the IBC, ASME, API, PIP and NFPA.
- Establish and document the mechanical systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues.
- Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients.
- Work with owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value-engineering options as necessary.
- Interpret scopes-of-work and translate them into executable project plans.
- Manage project mechanical engineering and design team and oversee all aspects of the mechanical scope related primarily to equipment and piping.
- Perform and document engineering calculations related to mechanical engineering for the purpose of selecting code compliant systems and equipment.
- Perform sizing and selection of equipment and systems.
- Oversee piping group activities related to mechanical equipment, piping and 3D modeling to support mechanical deliverables.
- Perform pipe stress analysis utilizing software such as CAESAR II, NozzlePro, etc.
- Work with the project team to design a cohesive, technically acceptable, and optimized piping system.
- Perform detailed reviews of piping isometrics, piping plans, pipe specifications, P&IDs, and other design documents.
- Mentor other mechanical engineers and designers.Construction Support:
- Contribute to the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.
- Oversee problem solving efforts for field oversights and addressing RFI’s.
- Perform field inspections and review of reports.
- Work with Project Engineer/Manager to ensure that project schedule will be met, and complete documents provided for each deliverable.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from ABET accredited program required.
- Twelve (12)+ years industry experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain your PE within the first year of employment.
- Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects.
- Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
- Pipe stress analysis experience utilizing software such as CAESAR II.
- Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing, industrial, and shipbuilding facilities.
- HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
- Experience in managing personnel and project engineering.
