The Surgical Prior Authorization Representative is responsible for obtaining pre-authorization from insurance companies for spine procedures. This role involves knowledge of diagnosis and CPT codes, accurate documentation, and effective communication with medical staff, patients, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have experience working surgical prior authorizations, possess strong organizational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of insurance processes including utilizing payer websites (Availity, UHC, Select Health, iQueue, iCentra, etc.).**Key Responsibilities:**
- Initiate and submit prior authorization requests for spine surgeries.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits.
- Collaborate with surgeons and medical staff to gather necessary clinical information for submission.
- Track and follow up on authorization requests to ensure timely approval.
- Schedule surgeries in iQueue, and confirm surgery lineup with OR's.
- Communicate surgical instructions with patients, and place appropriate post-surgical orders into EMR.**Qualifications:**
- Experience in surgical prior authorizations is highly preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT codes.
- Previous experience with spine is preferred, but not required.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and other healthcare software (Availity, UHC, Select Health, iQueue, iCentra, etc.).
- Strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
