The Department of Curriculum & Instruction invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor / Associate Professor. We seek a dynamic and collaborative faculty member to teach in our online graduate programs, with particular focus on the Ed.D. in Transformative Leadership.The ideal candidate will bring expertise in qualitative research methods and analysis and have the ability to teach across multiple graduate programs, including doctoral-level research/leadership courses and master's-level counseling courses. Candidates with backgrounds in two or more of the following areas-research methods, leadership, and counseling-are strongly encouraged to apply.Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching graduate-level online courses in research methods and analysis for master's and doctoral students, as well as content in the Ed.D. in Transformative Leadership and/or other master's programs in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction.
  • Contributing through curriculum development, program planning, student mentorship, and dissertation support.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of the summer, on campus Ed.D. Residency and Ed.D. candidacy qualification processes.
  • Serving as a dissertation committee chair and/or methodologist.
  • Designing and delivering high-quality, online graduate courses aligned with best practices in online pedagogy.
  • Participating in departmental and college-wide service, including research, committee work, and program assessment, in accordance with institutional tenure and evaluation policies.
This is an 11-month appointment, which includes summer teaching and Ed.D. residency and candidacy participation.
Typical Duties/Job Duties * Teach 8- week and 16-week graduate-level online courses in the Ed.D. in Transformative Leadership program and other master's programs within the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, utilizing effective and innovative distance learning strategies and technologies.
  • Develop and revise relevant, rigorous coursework that reflects current research and best practice in the program and/or teaching field.
  • Foster meaningful learner engagement through interactive content delivery, discussion facilitation, and the provision of timely, constructive, and student-centered feedback.
  • Serve on dissertation committees as chair and/or methodologist, supporting students in the design and implementation of research studies aligned with program goals.
  • Support the continuous improvement of residency, candidacy, and dissertation experiences for Ed.D. students.
  • Actively participate in faculty governance and service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Support student success through involvement in recruitment, enrollment, advising, program evaluation, and retention initiatives across programs.
  • Engage in a sustained program of scholarly activity, including peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, grant writing, and other forms of academic research consistent with departmental expectations for tenure and promotion.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in leadership theory, practice, and research especially in educational or organizational contexts- and proficiency in qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods research design to support graduate student research.
  • Content expertise in one or more of the department's academic program areas, such as counseling/mental health, educational leadership, or other fields.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, contribute to interdisciplinary team efforts, and engage constructively with diverse student populations.
  • Experience in developing and teaching high-quality online courses, including evidence of timely communication, quality feedback, and substantive engagement within a learning management system.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly to academic and practitioner audiences.
  • Familiarity with doctoral student support strategies, including dissertation advising, committee service, and research mentoring.
Minimum Qualifications
  • An earned doctorate in a field appropriate for teaching within the Department of Curriculum & Instruction (e.g., research methods, educational leadership, counseling, curriculum and instruction, or a closely related discipline).
  • For appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, candidates must have completed all doctoral degree requirements by the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and application of advanced research methods.
  • Professional leadership experience in educational or other organizational contexts.
  • Prior involvement in supporting student research, including mentoring, advising, or serving on thesis or dissertation committees.
  • Online and/or graduate teaching experience. Familiarity with Blackboard or similar learning management systems for designing and delivering high-quality, asynchronous online instruction.
  • Education and professional qualifications to teach in other areas in addition to research methods, specifically graduate counseling programs or leadership programs.
