A week in the life of a Senior Linux Engineer includes:
  • Using Ansible and AAP - design, install, implement, and configure systems in a virtual environment and provide ongoing support of the Linux Infrastructure.
  • Using Ansible and AAP - Evaluate, improve, automate, and maintain information security
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for all RHEL 7 and 8 in a virtualized environment
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and correct critical server issues
  • Create recovery processes for system failures and performance bottlenecks
  • Using Ansible, AAP or other command line methods - Perform patching, upgrades, and modifications of Linux systems
  • Effectively learning new technologies added to the environment
  • Establish and maintain procedural documentation and knowledge articles and share knowledge through training and mentorship of team members
Job Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance
  • Security+ or equivalent IAT 2 or higher certification
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in Red Hat administration and working on complex systems, software programs, and networks
  • Ability to read/write/maintain a large complex Ansible yaml code base for CM security baseline maintenance.
  • Ability to read/write/maintain shell/python scripting to support automation and maintenance tasks
  • Experience with SVN (Subversion), both command line and TortoiseSVN
  • Experience with container technology (ex. docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn new technologies as added to the environment
  • Ability to lead/mentor people and projects to completion.
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and provide solutions with minimal guidance.
  • Develop process documents (SOPs) for use by fellow team members
  • Experience managing and mitigating system security risks
  • Experience with security principles such as DISA STIGs and IAVM system
  • Experience with Red Hat patching process (YUM updates, Satellite) and coordination of patching efforts
  • Experience with monitoring tools and system diagnostics
  • Experience managing RHEL systems integrated with MS Active Directory
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks to accomplish goals on a given timeline
  • Virtualization experience using VMware / vSphere
  • Ability to provide general technical support for both hardware and software
  • Ability to support Analysis of Alternative (AoA) exercises

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
