Position Summary:The function of the Spray Wash Technician (SWT) is to prepare the truck body for the paint process. SWT will wear appropriate PPE when entering the spray booth and ensure bodies are washed, using the high pressure heated spray unit. The SWT will wash the truck body with the chemical wand for the appropriate time to get good impingement to create a water-break-free surface. It will require the SWT to make multiple passes for a set amount of time to get a clean body and a good coating on the surface. The SWT will then use the rinse wand to rinse the entire truck body, and vacuum standing water and grit from the cabinets. The SWT will then use a garden sprayer to spray a sealer over the entire surface careful not to leave sealer puddles in the compartments.We are a leading manufacturer, distributor and fleet sales expert of premium truck bodies with commercial upfit for vocational markets nationwide.   • SWT will aid the Paint Maintenance employee when required to adjust the process and pull samples for titration.
  • Use the high pressure heated spray unit to wash and pre-treat the bodies with Bonderite 41042.
  • Use the high pressure heated spray unit to rinse the body
  • Vacuum all compartments and bed to ensure grit and standing water is removed
  • Use the manual pump garden sprayer with two different sealing chemicals, Bonderite 7100 for steel truck bodies and Bonderite 5600 for aluminum truck bodies.
  • Operates and sets up one of several types of precision scraping and sanding tools
  • Responsible for sanding and scraping internal and external surfaces of metal parts to a smooth and even finish specific to required dimensions
  • Basic use of hand tools: drill, rivet gun, wrenches and caulk gun
  • Loading/unloading heavy equipment
  • Responsible for manually pushing/pulling equipment and parts from inventory based on the job order
  • Responsible for moving equipment to other work areas via roller system or overhead crane
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications & Requirements:Education:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
Experience:
  • Entry level = 0 – 2 Years of Manufacturing floor experience
  • Prior experience with hand tools preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to stand for 8-10 hours
  • Ability to comprehend data supplied on work orders
  • Ability to work overtime and varied shift assignments as required

  • Frequent bending, standing, crouching, use of hands & arms
