Job Description:Job Summary:The Patient Financial Counselor assists patients in resolving the financial responsibility of their healthcare charges through suitable payment arrangements, Medicaid applications, and/or qualifications for financial assistance in accordance with charity care policy and procedure.Essential Duties: The Patient Financial Counselor will screen patients for eligibility for insurance and/or assistance programs and assist in the application process; process Financial Assistance applications and apply account adjustments as appropriate; track and open patients covered under Medicaid Spenddown Plan; establish patient payment plans and provide pre-service financial clearance.Essential Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or Social Services preferred. Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and writing skills. Must be comfortable interacting with insurance companies, patients, and various management levels and have a minimum of 2 years of administrative, customer service, financial services, medical billing, third party, or agency (Medicare/Medicaid) experience.About North Country Healthcare (NCH):North Country Healthcare is a non-profit affiliation of four medical facilities, Androscoggin Valley Hospital, North Country Home Health & Hospice Agency, Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital, and Weeks Medical Center, located in the White Mountains Region of New Hampshire.
