
Engineer Intern - Mechanical (Summer 2026)

- Prepare vehicle component layouts using CAD software (SolidWorks) and online layout software tools (TruckScience)
- Select parts or components for quality conscious design (i.e. weight, cost, reliability, and ease of manufacturing)
- Follow project on the assembly floor for prototype, pilot, or production build and provide technical assistance.
- Generate engineering calculations of weight distribution, stress analysis, performance estimations, etc.
- Consult with suppliers, customers, partners, and internal departments to find solutions to problems.
- Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles or vehicle components.
- Support ECN’s (Engineering Change Notices) using the PDM (Product Data Management) system (SmarTeam)
- Design, model, and test new mechanical systems that integrate with a vehicle.
- Participate in design reviews with cross functional team members.
- All other duties or projects as assigned.
- Student working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related engineering field for entire duration of internship
- Willing to travel or relocate to Dodge Center, MN for the Summer of 2026 (relocation assistance provided for those with a permanent address of greater than 50 miles from Dodge Center, MN)
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in extracurricular activities outside academic requirements.
- Previous internship experience or work-related experience.
- Experience using SolidWorks or a similar CAD system is a plus.
- Previous experience or heightened interest in mechanical design.
- Previous experience or heightened interest in heavy duty commercial truck design and/or chassis design.
