INTERNSHIP POSITION DESCRIPTION:Duration: Temporary/ SummerPay Rate: $12.00-$18.00/hrWork Hours: 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through FridayPurpose:
The Fremont Department of Utilities hires outstanding students into our internship program based on business needs. The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential. Internship will be with the Electrical Engineering Department with an emphasis on GIS system data logging, overhead line design, utility pole testing and inspection and substation operations and construction.Duties will include:
  • Utility pole numbering, labeling and testing/inspection
  • Data entry for GIS system
  • Scanning documents and drawings
  • Assist with substation operations, construction and inspection activities
  • Assist with distribution line construction activities
  • Perform general office duties as needed
  • Assist with other projects as necessary
Basic Qualifications:
  • Graduation from High School
  • Current Enrollment in College, preferably in Engineering or Project Management
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Valid State of NE Driver’s License
  • Lift and/or carry up to 40lbs
  • Dress appropriately for and be able to withstand adverse weather elements including higher temperatures
  • Walking for extended periods of time, ability to drive and operate various locating and pole testing equipment
  • Ability to interpret and navigate maps and similar documents
  • Ability to follow technical directions and log work being performed
  • Ability to follow safety guidelines and work in an alert and safe manner
  • Proven interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe or similar programs skills required
  • Ability to work with others
