
Junior Estimator

- Evaluate bid specifications and drawings for mechanical systems including chilled water, condenser water, glycol, and refrigeration.
- Perform accurate takeoffs and estimate associated costs.
- Ensure all bid documents and subcontractor buyout information are accurately and promptly transferred to the Project Management team. The goal is to achieve 100% turnover of awarded projects within 24 hours of notification.
- Prepares and maintains status of plan reproduction.
- Assertively follow up with and maintain communication with subcontractors and vendors
- Prepare subcontractor bid packages for supervisor approval.
- Ensure proper subcontractor coverage on bid day and contact vendors for additional bids as needed.
- Ensure proper communication of the project schedule or addendums with subcontractors.
- Submit all bids and budgets by the deadline.
- Enter all relevant information into the estimating software
- Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions as necessary.
- Develop RFIs and clarifications to ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.
- Perform comprehensive bid day analysis and scoping of specific trades.
- Create and maintain bid lists ensuring the right subcontractors are selected for each project.
- Comprehensive understanding of the scope for assigned trades.
- Collaborate with the Project Management team to review drawings and job costs, identifying areas of concern and any pending subcontractor or material vendor awards.
- Furnish subcontractors with essential project information, including details about the Project Manager, Site Supervisor, and permit status.
- Participate in networking events to represent the company and cultivate relationships with vendors and subcontractors.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, vendors, and internal departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study.
- Construction industry for more than 3-5 years in business operations or projects
- Experience or willingness to learn about mechanical systems, including HVAC and duct systems
- Understanding of margins and sales, with the ability to read specifications, addendums, and RFIs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Project).
- Experience with estimating software
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
