The work will be supervised by the departmental chair, her administrative assistant, and the director of graduate studies. In addition, the coordinator will assist the chair's administrative assistant in the running of the department.Essential Functions:Maintenance and management of graduate database for the history department, including (but not limited to) tracking students from their initial application through their completion of the program, supervising language requirements, registration, fellowships, and insurance. Liaison with admissions and departmental graduate committee; fielding queries of potential applicants. Update the catalog.Website maintenance for graduate program; promotion for graduate program; logistics for events and program showcases.Assist in scheduling campus visit of potential students, public programming, outreach and logistics for various events; including (but not limited to) assistance in arranging speakers, flights, travel, vendor approval, receptions, honoraria; assist in coordinating graduate student orientation.Support the Director of Graduate Studies and the departmental Graduate Committee.Miscellaneous assistance for faculty and graduate students including support for the chair's administrative assistant. * Occasional evening/weekend hours will be required for special events.QualificationsEducation and Experience:High School diploma (or equivalent) is required. A Bachelor's degree is preferred.A minimum of three years of experience is required. Prior experience providing administrative assistance is preferred. Prior experience working in an academic environment is highly preferred. Prior experience with data entry is also preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.Candidate familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint, Filemaker Pro, Sharepoint, Sitecore, Adobe Acrobat Professional and Adobe Photoshop is a plus.Physical and Environmental Demands:
