- Project Evaluation & Planning: Review project work scopes, plans, and specifications to ensure proper execution and resource allocation.
- Field Personnel Coordination: Coordinate and supervise the work of field personnel, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and according to specifications.
- Material & Equipment Management: Ensure adequate materials, tools, and equipment are available for each project. Monitor equipment performance and schedule maintenance as needed.
- Safety Compliance: Enforce safety precautions and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Daily Reporting: Check and complete applicable daily reports, including progress, work performed, and any issues that arise during the day.
- Truck Hauling Coordination: Calculate and coordinate the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the hot plant, considering vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance to the worksite, and driver productivity.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making: Resolve any operational issues in the field, ensuring smooth project progress and adherence to project timelines.
- Other Duties: Perform other related duties as required to ensure successful project completion.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in asphalt paving, with at least 2 years of experience as a foreman.
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of asphalt paving operations, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to plan, schedule, assign, and supervise the work of subordinates effectively.
- Ability to calculate material and truck needs based on project specifications.
- Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions on paving jobs.
- Ability to understand and execute both oral and written instructions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to maintain simple records and reports.
- Physical strength and agility to perform the work required, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
- Preferred Experience: Georgia DOT experience is preferred.
