Capitol Aggregates is seeking a detail-oriented Lab Technician to join our Technical Services Department. In this hands-on role, you’ll prepare and test construction material samples including cement, mortar, concrete, and aggregates to ensure product quality and performance. You’ll follow standardized testing procedures, accurately record results, and support research and development initiatives.What You’ll DoPrepare and test mortar, concrete, and aggregate samples in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, ACI, and company procedures.Conduct routine lab functions including weighing materials, mixing batches, casting and curing specimens, and performing strength and durability tests.Accurately record, analyze, and report test results.Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory equipment.Support research and development efforts, including trial batching and material evaluations.Safely handle materials, tools, and chemicals in compliance with lab safety protocols.Organize and manage sample inventory to support efficient testing workflow.Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and improve testing processes.Comply with all company and MSHA safety policies, rules, and procedures.What You’ll BringHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Prior experience in a construction materials laboratory or related environment is a plus.Familiarity with ASTM/ACI standards is desirable.Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and mixing heavy materials.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.Effective communication and teamwork abilities.Why You’ll Love This Job
