The Middle Level Alternative Learning Teacher will provide Tier II and Tier III interventions for students who need more intensive levels of support for academics and to develop social and emotional skills (SEL). In this position you will work in collaboration with each student’s teacher team and support staff and serve as a liaison between the school, family, and community organizations.Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, coordinate core content interventions and supports that target general academic areas of need and/or gap-fill skill deficits for students on your caseload
- Under general supervision, evaluate and analyze student assessment data to determine individual learning plans for students on your caseload
- Under general supervision, coordinate social-emotional learning (SEL) support for students on your caseload and target individual areas of need.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and members of the student support team to measure student progress in core content areas and develop plans for support and improvement; act as communicative liaison between school and home.
- Participate collaboratively with MTSS team to identify further academic or community agency support.
- Communicate early and often with home/guardians, as necessary, to strengthen home-school relationships, and engage parents with students to support the student’s academic and SEL growth and progress.
- Create and provide learning opportunities outside of the building to engage students in hands-on and community-based learning.
- Maintain professional practice and development, staying current with recent approaches to improving academics and SEL for students, staff, and families.
- Gather and track data on student progress.
- Work independently, with minimal supervision and guidance, in performing all assigned responsibilities in an efficient and correct manner.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain either a valid school psychologist, school counselor, school social worker, teaching license, or special education teaching license. Persons who also maintain a teaching license or who have classroom teaching experience are preferred.
- Strong interpersonal relationships with students, staff, and parents
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms
- Ability to develop and compile a variety of records and reports
- Experience with spreadsheets and assessing data, student data systems.
