
Early Learning & Family Support Specialist

- Work closely with families and children who have experienced trauma and displacement, helping them navigate these changes and challenges with a playful curriculum that engages and empowers children as they learn and grow.
- Communicate closely with families and children and carefully assess the needs and create a personalized learning plan for children and the parent's engagement, to ensure the best early learning experience, social-emotional learning support, and kindergarten preparedness.
- Plan and implement daily lessons and activities following a curriculum, in-person (and online when deemed required due to public health concerns), based on early learning best practices in a culturally relevant manner.
- Plan and organize regular family engagement events and activities that facilitate sustainable social and community connections and resources for their child's learning as well as family's holistic wellbeing and resiliency.
- Coordinate daily program planning, logistics, and scheduling in a timely and efficient manner ensuring the program requirements are met and families receive quality support.
- Continue to develop, refine, and preserve early childhood curriculum that is evidence-based and trauma-informed, for future use.
- Design and implement pre-/post-assessments and keep detailed records of results for each student. Collaborate with the Program Manager and other staff with the design and criteria for standardizing assessments.
- Collaborate with other team members and WRWW staff, following up on referrals and requests for resources for the potential/enrolled participant families.
- Continue to build the resources list and build connections with local organizations & partners to continue expanding services for refugee and immigrant families and children.
- Provide information and assist families with connecting to needed resources and support, including but not limited to child development screenings, ECEAP & pre-school, school registrations, summer programs, and other opportunities of learning and community support.
- Use internal tools and databases to track and update participant information and program details.
- Attend relevant trainings on Early childhood development, SEL, mental health and trauma-informed care.
- Work closely with the Program Manager and contribute to program budgeting, reporting and evaluation.
- Assist the Children & Family Programs team with work planning, services, and support with other planned program activities as needed.
- Inform the overall programming with insights and expertise in order to strengthen the programming to best serve our families and children in the community.

- Ability to work in office setting, participant homes and/or partner sites, with minimal day-to-day supervision, and to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Valid Driver's license and ability to pass a driving record check.
- Current (or ability to quickly secure) CPR/First Aid Certification required.
- AA (or higher) in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 4 years of experience in the early learning field and direct service/teaching OR BA in an Early Learning/Child development related studies with at least 2 years of experience in the early learning field (preferably direct teaching or home-based services).
- Experience working with immigrant or other under-represented communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of implementing culturally responsive lessons and curriculum, and engaging caregivers in their child's learning and development.
- Strong knowledge of kindergarten readiness skills and child development.
- Experience following and implementing a curriculum/lesson-plan and individualizing it depending on the child's developmental level and need for support is highly preferred.
- Good knowledge of WA Kids, and other early learning guidelines and best practices is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); as well as learning and use internal tracking applications.
- Experience understanding and helping families connect with community resources and supporting them with navigating language, cultural and systemic barriers in a respectful and productive manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively, and positively with students, volunteers, and other staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, additional language skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
