- Conduct pre-op inspections and calibrate equipment/instruments before startup; swab equipment/instruments to verify sanitation effectiveness
- Perform routine sampling and testing of products and raw materials at various production stages
- Identify, communicate, and document out-of-spec samples and raw materials
- Ensure adjustments are made for compliance; recheck product quality after adjustments
- Inspect inbound raw material shipments for compliance with quality standards
- Conduct and document food safety truck inspections
- Verify product traceability via product code checks on raw materials
- Inspect bulk chemicals, condiments, and master packs
- Perform flume water testing (total/free chlorine, calcium, Tsunami sanitizer, pH, temperature)
- Conduct Nature Seal and Quat testing, as well as ambient temperature and metal detector checks
- Monitor and evaluate cut quality, blend ratios, total volume, and package weight
- Test seal integrity (leaker testing), finished package temperature, and defect/WIP checks
- Perform allergen and code date verification, equipment calibrations, and bar code readability checks
- Collect CQI and shelf-life samples; document all results and actions
- Enter data into computer systems as required
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all inspections and tests
- Communicate inspection and quality information to production, quality, and management teams
- Enforce GMP rules and perform other assigned duties
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience working in QA or a Technical environment
- Food industry experience or past experience working in a cold environment
- Basic science, technical, and computer skills (AS/400, Excel, Outlook, Word)
- Able to read and interpret documents (English), such as safety rules and product specifications
- Able to write routine reports and email correspondence (English)
- Ability to work in a cold, wet environment for an entire shift
- Flexible to work hours/shifts based on production schedule, operate measuring instruments (weight scales, thermometers), self-motivated with minimal supervision, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for duration of shift
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- Ability to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, twist and reach
