Job DescriptionSouthwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.Southwest Virginia Community College is seeking individuals to perform general duties to maintain campus as part of the Facilities team.Job duties include:General duties to maintain campusPainting, drywall repairs, masonry, plumbing repairs, assist Full time Trades Tech and Maintenance Supervisor with various duties as needed to maintain campusGeneral maintenance duties as assigned by Maintenance or Housekeeping supervisors, Director of Operations, or by VP of Finance and AdministrationAssist with set-up for events including athleticsAssist faculty, staff members and public as neededAssist with snow removal as assignedComplete job assignments without close supervisionWork on limited holidays, limited nights, limited weekends as assignedComplete OSHA 10-hour class & Blood Born Pathogen TrainingWear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Provides excellent customer service to all stakeholdersOther duties as assigned by Maintenance or Housekeeping supervisors, Director of Operations, or by VP of Finance and AdministrationWork assignments from SWCC work order system will be provided by the Operations Administrative Assistant at the direction of the Director of Operations or VP of Finance and Administration
Special AssignmentsMay be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required QualificationsKnowledge of general maintenance and trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning.Experience in various skilled trades, commercial grounds keeping, and commercial cleaning.Ability to operate a wide variety of power equipment, grounds equipment, and custodial equipmentAbility to lift and move furniture, supplies and equipment-50 lbs. minimumAbility to climb extension ladder for maintenance and tradesAbility to operate snow removal equipment as assignedAbility to work without close supervisionAbility to follow safety and security proceduresAbility to successfully complete assigned duties in a timely mannerAdditional ConsiderationsHigh school graduate or GED preferred.
