OPEN TO: Dominican University Undergraduate StudentsDATE AVAILABLE: August 2025-May 2026HOURLY RATE: $16.60/hourPosition SummaryDominican University Chicago Campus is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and service-oriented students to join us as Operations and Ambassador Student Workers. This position combines behind-the-scenes operational support with front-facing ambassador responsibilities.As an Operations Student Worker, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient campus environment while assisting with event logistics, meal distribution, and administrative tasks.As an Ambassador, you will represent Dominican University's Chicago Campus to prospective students, families, and visitors. You'll create a welcoming, positive experience during tours and admission events, helping prospective students feel excited and informed about joining DU.Ideal candidates are students in good academic standing who demonstrate professionalism, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting the Chicago Campus community.Expectations for all Dominican Employees:To support the University's mission of preparing students to pursue truth, to give compassionate service, and to participate in the creation of a more just and humane world.Job Components/ Principal Duties and Responsibilities:Operations and Ambassador Student Worker will support the day-to-day functions of the Chicago Campus including but not limited to:Operations Responsibilities
  • Assist the Operations Coordinator with event setup, breakdown, and logistics.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and functionality of La Casa and the Resource Center.
  • Manage inventory of office and event supplies.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, scheduling, and organizing materials.
  • Support staff and community partners during on-campus events.
  • Assist with meal plan program implementation and distribution for La Casa residents.
  • Maintain event materials and schedules using Microsoft Teams.
  • Support the creation of student communication as it pertains to key events (e.g. City as Campus) and meal distribution planning
  • Other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned
Ambassador Responsibilities
  • Provide engaging, personalized campus tours that highlight DU's academic rigor, affordability, and value-based learning environment.
  • Support admissions events such as open houses, admitted student days, group visits, and panels.
  • Represent DU at on-campus visit activities and foster a welcoming environment.
  • Share your student experience to help prospective students feel connected to DU.
  • Maintain and promote the University mission and values
  • Support the commitment to multiculturalism, as well as departmental and University mission/values
  • Other duties as requested, delegated, or assigned
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Attend regular one-on-one meetings with your supervisor.
  • Maintain a minimum of 10-15 (max) hours per week.

Qualifications
  • Good academic and disciplinary standing
  • Ability to work the full-term of the position (a full year from fall-to-spring semester).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Display strong interpersonal communication, customer service, and leadership skills, as well as a strong desire to further develop these skills
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work in a relationship-centered, culturally responsive manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to effectively learn and use departmental technology to support communication and projects.
  • Strong self-motivation, tact, diplomacy, and a clear, courteous, and professional manner when dealing with students, community partners, and the Dominican University community.
  • Demonstrate time management skills, flexibility, and the ability to motivate themselves and others
  • Work well independently and within a group of diverse staff, and community partners
  • A willingness to learn about university resources, services, opportunities, and staff personnel
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Dominican University
  • Preferred proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, and speaking)
This position requires physical labor, heavy lifting at times, sitting and standing for periods of time, and it is very important that you are flexible to work various shifts. You must be willing to work weekends and nights and uphold all the rules and expectations that come with this department that are outlined in the Student Worker Manual. You must be willing to work at least 10-15 hours per week for this position.The appropriate university offices will be contacted to ensure qualifications are met. A background screening is required.
