- Create and develop mechanical components and assemblies in SolidWorks CAD, applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles.
- Support manufacturing by retrieving, interpreting, and updating legacy engineering drawings.
- Design and evaluate concepts based on performance, cost, and reliability, making decisions grounded in sound engineering principles.
- Work independently to plan, process, and complete assignments efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop functional specifications and translate operational requirements into practical design solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and exceed customer expectations.
- Provide accurate cost estimates, schedules, task development, and project leadership when required.
- Serve as a Mechanical Engineering technical resource and mentor within the engineering team.
- Adhere to and promote AFL’s environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years’ relative work experience in mechanical design and engineering fundamentals.
- Expert level with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in collaborative team environments.
- Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with individuals at all levels of the organization, vendors and contractors.
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas and recommendations and deliver persuasive presentations.
- Skillful at developing relationships, both internal and external.
- Must be self-motivated and a great team player
- Ability to understand priorities and ensure deliverables are completed on time, on budget, with little supervision.
- Work in a controlled manufacturing or office environment.
- Occasional travel to meet with manufacturers of related equipment or machines.
