Job summary:
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider, the Wound Care Center Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides wound-related and other basic nursing care to the center's patients according to all the WCC and hospital policies and procedures, care and safety protocols, and Clinical Services Practice Guidelines.
They are responsible for working as a clinic LPN, maintaining clinic flow for patients and providers.
This position serves to primarily assist clinic healthcare providers with patient examinations, phone calls, treatments and procedures as they may be performed within a clinic setting under the direction of the provider; within the scope of the professional license.
This position maintains responsibility for patient medical record and documentation, collection and preparation of specimens, and administration of medications as ordered by the provider.Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Graduate of an accredited program for LPNs.
Certification/Licensure in the States of Iowa.
Previous acute or clinic experience.
Basic knowledge of regulatory/accrediting requirements for healthcare organizations.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Code BLS required.
New employees certify within three (3) months after hire date.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to multi-task and to work in a fast paced environment.
High degree of empathetic listening, tact and kindness toward others.
Ability to communicate well verbally. Must work effectively as a member of a team.
Basic computer knowledge
Technical and Critical Thinking Skills in relation to sound nursing judgment
