- Manages, oversees, plans, and supervises work of the CAD, Survey, and GIS staff in the Engineering Department; provides extensive technical direction and leadership, and advises staff performing various types of work.
- Develops, implements, and administers policies, programs, and capital projects to meet survey, CAD and GIS technology needs; assists and participates in the creation and development of policies to meet the needs and operational output of the department and to ensure efficiency and professionalism.
- Coordinates and organizes survey projects and the preparation and development of working plans and drawings for a variety of municipal engineering projects; creates, checks and verifies legal descriptions from survey data and review various types of boundary surveys submitted by private development.
- Manages the preparation and maintenance of official City maps and atlases; coordinates, manages, and monitors Engineering CAD/GIS workload with other engineering work and Engineering CAD/GIS services with other City departments.
- Engages and responds to public inquiries on engineering and related matters, including legal descriptions, assessments, work in progress, zoning, and the like.
- Attends and participates in various hearings, planning and zoning meetings, and construction planning conferences.
- Coordinates City property surveys for real estate transactions; ensures survey work is done accurately and in compliance to professional standards and requirements.
- Conducts performance evaluations and recommends corrective or remedial actions for subordinate employees; leads, guides, and mentors staff and provides training and education when needed to enhance the success and competency of the department.
