Job Description:POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of billing, collections, to including procedure development, internal and external communications, statistical reporting, trend analysis, issue resolutionESSENTIAL AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned. * Maintain positive working relationships with internal departments (Finance, Patient Access, Coding, HIM), external vendors (insurance carriers, government agencies, claims clearinghouse, collection agency) and members of the Patient Accounting peers.
  • Assist in the Development, implementation, revision, and monitoring of procedures in support of billing and collection policies.
  • Provide training to new and established employees as determined by management.
  • Work with peers for account resolution and keep them abreast patient or carrier specific trends and/or issues.
  • Maintain competency in functional area of assignment through daily work processes, professional development, literature review, seminars, networking, etc.
  • Maintain QA program to ensure appropriate management of patient accounts within area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate projects assigned by management
  • Ensure processes support data driven feedback both internally and to the front-end to improve revenue cycle processes and reduce re-work.
  • Provide Customer Service for escalated patient issues.
  • Provide coverage for peers when needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTSEducational RequirementsHigh School Diploma/Equivalent - preferredLicensure, Certification and Registration - N/AWork Orientation and Experience5 years prior experience in hospital collections.
