- Lead and mentor the Operating Engineer team, supporting their professional growth and development.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies with the facility, operational, and capital projects management team to meet business objectives and technical requirements.
- Oversee the development and accuracy of site-level operating engineer procedures and other documentation.
- Manage and escalate emergency response protocols for after-hours emergencies across all Academy campuses.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety organizations, such as Cal/OSHA.
- Resolve issues involving electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems with minimal disruption to operations, and communicate issues and resolutions to management and staff promptly.
- Utilize the work order database system to resolve maintenance issues based on agreed-upon priorities.
- Oversee incident management and produce clear, detailed reports.
- Analyze and solve problems promptly and reduce any critical impact on the facility.
- Develop and manage the operating engineering budget with attention to cost-effectiveness.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors to support maintenance, repairs, and project needs.
- Participate in the planning and execution of capital projects related to building systems.
- Implement and monitor energy efficiency initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Ensure the effective implementation and adherence to preventative maintenance schedules for all critical systems.
- A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical maintenance and mechanics;5 years of equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Must have at least 5 years of progressive experience in facilities operations or engineering management, with demonstrated expertise in maintaining and troubleshooting complex building systems, as well as a minimum of 5 years of team management experience. Expertise in industrial safety regulations and best practices (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, PPE, arc flash protection, Cal/OSHA, EPA).
- Experience with CMMS systems (trouble ticket management, maintenance activities, and infrastructure projects for work order completion processes).
- Availability to work off-hours should emergencies arise.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Experience writing MOPs, SOPs, and reports.
- Advanced proficiency with the MS Office suite.
- Expertise with safe operation and maintenance of several hand, power, and machine tools (drills, saws, presses, meters).

- Possession of a valid Stationary Engineer license is highly desirable.
- Experience in comparable environments such as museums, data centers, hospitals, or large hospitality settings preferred.
- In-depth experience with BMS (Automated Logic and Alerton) strongly preferred.
