This position reports to the Director of Prospect Management and Research (PMR). The Analyst is an essential part of a team dedicated to supporting University Advancement philanthropic goals and mission by providing prospect research, proactive identification of new prospects, and aiding in portfolio management. The Analyst utilizes key biographic, financial and engagement data markers to help identify new prospects and works on large verification projects following CRM screenings. The Analyst also provides assistance to the Director, the Associate Director, and the Assistant Director in prospect management responsibilities, adhering to the best prospect management practices to transition prospects to donors.LMU believes that diversity and excellence go hand-in-hand, therefore we seek to hire individuals who have a significant potential for cultural contribution in the workplace and a commitment to working effectively with colleagues and donors from diverse backgrounds.*For full consideration, please upload a cover letter and resume in the attachments section.*Position-Specific Responsibilities/AccountabilitiesValidate, analyze, and document biographical and financial information to assess a prospect’s wealth, capacity, affinity, and propensity to make a philanthropic gift to the university. Prepare high quality, in-depth prospect research on LMU donors and prospects. Deliver actionable information that supports campaign priorities and key university initiatives. Review news alerts, publications, and other information sources to summarize complex biographical, business and financial data. Utilize free and paid prospect research tools such as Google, iWave, LexisNexis, Wealth-X, RelSci, LinkedIn and Zillow to conduct comprehensive research and analysis on individuals, corporations and foundations and prepare profiles and reports, while adhering to deadlines. (35%)Proactively identify new prospects via electronic screening results, data mining activities, and other leads that build and sustain the prospect pool, supporting PMR team members in their offering of qualification assignments to fundraisers. Follow up with PRM team members on a regular basis to get feedback on the effectiveness of the information, provide any additional detail needed or fine tune data analysis procedures as necessary. (20%)Support PMR team’s management of prospect and portfolio data, including monitoring activity reports for prospect updates; assignment and stage creation, updates and maintenance; and data hygiene efforts, while leveraging analysis and reporting via Salesforce, Tableau, and Advance. Partner with Administrative Associates, who support frontline fundrasisers, on opportunity management activities. Ensure accuracy, consistency and compliance with all AIS portfolio and opportunity management business policies and procedures. (15%)Contribute toward the productive and collaborative working relationships between PMR and fundraisers. Support fundraisers’ success, implement best practices, and ensure all prospect management and research is consistently produced and delivered to meet the fundraising and UA leadership needs for campaign priorities and key initiatives. Attend portfolio reviews in order to learn PMR liaison role and support team with subsequent tasks. (10%)Partner with the Gifts & Records team on increasing record integrity—from tracking individual entity updates to facilitating data overlays like email and phone number appends. (10%)Collaborate with PMR colleagues and the AIS reporting team to strategize and lead efforts to expand the pool of new prospects by focusing on industry standard best practices for donor acquisition. Review, interpret, and analyze prospect and donor segmentation lists to bolster predictive modeling and data mining efforts in support of a UA priority to identify new donors. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities to keep abreast of Advancement industry trends.0-2 of experience in fundraising or development (prospect research, data analysis and prospect management preferred). Seeking a professional with varied backgrounds, abilities, experiences, thoughts and ideas.Ability to organize and synthesize data from a variety of sources and communicate that information effectively and clearly, both verbally and in writing.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and experience in distilling large datasets into actionable strategies and recommendations.Working knowledge to the principles and practices of philanthropy.Ability to identify what information is relevant and strategic to support prospect development.Excellent written/oral/interpersonal communication skills.Must be able to write concise research documents with attention to accuracy and detail.Must be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines, be able to handle several projects simultaneously, and be able to shift priorities if needed.Ability to maintain confidentiality required.Understanding of information management in a database structure and ability to enter, manipulate, and retrieve data.Preferred familiarity with industry-standard sources of data (Salesforce, Advance or similar donor management system, LexisNexis, iWave, Wealth-X, Foundation Directory of Online, DonorSearch).The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
