Position Summary The University College welcomes applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Administrative Assistant 1 staff position in the Dean's Administrative Suite.The Administrative Assistant 1 will perform a broad range of administrative tasks including oversight of the reception area of the Administrative Suite, payroll, purchases, room reservations, Pcard and finance reconciliations, and assistance with marketing and communication efforts.The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in customer service and administration in an educational environment.The Administrative Assistant 1 will provide administrative support as needed to the Dean, Associate Deans, Directors, Faculty and work closely with the Senior Operations Manager.This is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a creative and active environment. The Administrative Assistant 1 will become familiar with UNM policies and procedures and will complete training on systems such as Banner and various contracts.Conditions of Employment
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If located at the UNM Children's Campus, successful candidate must pass a comprehensive post-offer, pre-employment criminal and New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) fingerprint background check, and a continued successful status will be verified by periodic future background checks.
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Minimum QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service to a diverse population
  • Experience managing multiple administrative tasks and responsibilities
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks, and meet critical deadlines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Experience working within higher education
