Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis and these should be handled in a professional and respectful manner.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Engineering AND three (3) years or more of professional experience in civil engineering.ORBachelor's degree in Engineering OR Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) AND five (5) years or more of professional experience in civil engineering.ORAssociate degree and ten (10) years or more of experience in Transportation Engineering or related field, including one (1) year or more of experience in the aspects of project delivery.ORCertification in Project Management (PMP Certificate) with ten (10) years of experience in Transportation Engineering or a related field, including one (1) year or more of experience in the aspects of project delivery.NOTE: Some positions may require two years of supervisory experience. Participation in State of Vermont provided supervisor development programs may be substituted for supervisory experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience interpreting project plans and cost analysis, contract compliance and interpretation, methods of time estimation and recording.Total CompensationAs a State employee you are offered a great career opportunity, but it's more than a paycheck.
