Take the next step in your professional journey while contributing to the maintenance and preservation of our beautiful state park grounds -- apply today!DESCRIPTION OF WORKAs an Equipment Operator B, you will conduct general maintenance and skilled work at Shawnee State Park through the operation of specialized equipment and vehicles to include those with a gross vehicle weight of 32,000 pounds or more. Duties involve the operation of vehicles and equipment used in general construction, maintenance, or grounds work, including snow removal and salting or cindering operations. You will be responsible for operating tractor mounted grass and brush mowers, dump trucks, backhoes, skid steer, excavators, front-end loaders, and all attachments that may accompany all equipment. Grounds maintenance activities will include mowing, berm cleaning and repairing, and clearing brush. Within this role, you must perform thorough safety checks, preventative maintenance, and inspections of equipment prior to operation in addition to maintaining detailed records of the status of equipment.Interested in learning more?   • This is a seasonal, 37.5 hours/week, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2026.
  • Work schedule will vary and will include weekends, evenings, and holidays as necessary.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONSMinimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
Conditions of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a Class A Commercial Driver's License.
