  • Creates firmware test and development software using C/C++ on embedded systems utilizing 8-, 16- and 32-bit microcontrollers, including ARM device architecture.
  • Applies knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN bus, SPI and I2C.
  • Read and apply circuit schematics and component data sheets as applicable to embedded systems designs for new product development and existing product maintenance.
  • Identifies and implements design improvements to increase reliability, reduce cost and increase service life.
  • Supports manufacturing and supply chain to ensure products are being manufactured and tested to meet expectations for quality and reliability.
  • Conducts and/or participates in Project Design Teams for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating parts, components or integrated circuitry for board or system level hardware and firmware implementation.
  • Assists in data collection and analysis used for software control systems.
  • Assists in software performance, debugging and reliability testing.
  • Creates and maintains requirements and design document (internal).
Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of software design experience.
  • BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering Technology.
  • Experience in software design interfacing to both analog & digital electronic circuitry with embedded microcontrollers.
  • Experience with software revision tracking and management tools such as GIT and JIRA.
  • Domestic field travel (10%) as required for investigative site/customer visits and troubleshooting. May include international travel at some point.
  • Position is co-located at a company facility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Python and C# applications for laptop and workstation computers.
  • Experience with IoT and mobile app development.
  • Proven experience performing troubleshooting during integration of software and hardware in the Design State of Design for Six Sigma.
  • Previous experience with software design experience with integrated hardware applications.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills, including ability and willingness to communicate effectively with a globally dispersed team across multiple time zones (Bangalore, India; Kansas City, MO; Cincinnati, OH; Boston, MA).
  • High level of customer focus and ability to maintain a positive attitude at all times.

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
