We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal. Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland.Job Summary:This position is for a Senior Control Systems Engineer who will prepare designs for systems associated with the Waste Treatment Plant (WTP), High Level Waste project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and a can-do attitude.Part-Time Telework: This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility, which requires at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.Major Responsibilities:
Review and prepare higher tier engineering documents and drawings related to the Control Systems engineering discipline.
Properly interpret and apply codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products.
Coordination with other engineering disciplines.
Review project design criteria.
Vendor drawings/manuals.
Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) and Mechanical System Descriptions to determine control and instrumentation functional requirements.
Selection of instrumentation in conjunction with process and mechanical requirements.
Prepare Digital Logic Diagrams and Functional Block Diagrams.
Prepare Document Change Notices.
Markup the P&IDs to add control functionality for intermediate/advanced process control systems.
Coordinate technical issues with Startup & Commissioning and provides assistance to Construction in the field.
Contribute to maintaining the project's instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database.
Achieve work process improvement and promote continuous work process improvement.
Engineer shall champion non-proprietary electronic data interchange and integrate automation technology wherever practical.
Specification of instrumentation and control valves, and generation of their data sheets and material requisitions.
Design and application of tubing and instrument installations.
Allocation and layout of facility control system I/O.
Design and review of control cabinet layouts.
Design and review of control room layouts, with consideration of human factors.
Design and review control system network architecture.
Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills.
Provide technical assistance to more junior engineers/designers/drafters.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now and in the future.
Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)

Familiar with process control system software development.
Must have excellent written and oral communication abilities along with effective presentation skills.
Working knowledge of VISIO, CADD, and/or PDS 2D.
Knowledge of Control Systems Engineering work processes, procedures, specifications.
