- Recruits volunteers for a variety of programs and activities through various methods. Including but not limited to advertising, radio appearances, and networking in the community.
- Implements evidence-based promotion programs that impact the lifestyle and/or behavioral health habits of the aging population and adults with disabilities.
- Coordinates with community partners and resources to schedule and promote programs.
- Trains, recruits and supports class leaders in the facilitation of health promotion programs.
- Attends and successfully completes training for evidence-based health promotion programs.
- Interviews volunteer candidates for various tasks.
- Trains volunteers for various programs and activities.
- Provides program information and direction to volunteers when concerns or problems arise.
- Schedules and plans monthly activities and events.
- Assists in preparing the ADRC monthly newsletter.
- Maintains the daily participation check-in software program (SchedulesPlus).
- Develops program materials used in marketing and promoting classes, activities and events.
- Provides public presentations and education on evidence-based programs and activities.
- Maintains appropriate files and assists in the collection of program participation data for activities,health-promotion programs and volunteers.
- Reassignment of activities when appropriate to volunteers.
- Compile necessary paperwork on mandatory volunteer background checks and maintain records.
- Organizes materials, equipment and supplies needed for activities and programs.
- Decorates as needed for holiday events and celebrations.
- One (1) to three (3) year of employment experience coordinating activities for various groups.
- One or more years' experience working with older adults preferred.
- Experience with management of volunteers preferred.
- Experience with evidence based programing on health, fall prevention and disease management a plus.
- Skill and ability to independently organize time and records.
- Computer proficiencies in Microsoft Office products and in other database related software.
- Ability to work as an effective and collaborative team player with County employees, community partners and the general public.
- Knowledge of evidence-based prevention programs for aging adults and adults with disabilities.
- Knowledge of applicable resources throughout the community.
- Ability to successfully build and maintain community partner relations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of participant files and information.
- Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.
