  • Receive patients and visitors as the initial point of contact; either in-person or telephonically
  • Monitor and manage the automated secure messaging system at the clinic/practice level.
  • Maintain patients' records, both electronic and paper in accordance with establish regulations.
  • Respond to emergency calls and notify emergency medical personnel.
  • Record and relay messages and/or redirect calls.
  • Enter, manipulate, and/or retrieve information and data from automated systems to include an electronic health record, an ambulatory data system, a clinical information system, a patient appointment system, and a human resource system.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).OREducation: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.ORCombination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
