Responsibilities:
- Understand and perform to all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Participate in regulatory audits, as needed.
- Ship, receive, and track packages and specimens while maintaining the integrity of samples, as needed.
- Receive, classify, and process specimens in an accurate and expedient manner.
- Inspect specimens and paperwork for accuracy and acceptability and maintain sample identity and ensure samples are handled and stored at appropriate temperatures to prevent loss of sample.
- Use appropriate systems to accurately perform data entry functions.
- Proofread own work for content, spelling, accuracy, and document format.
- Maintain sample integrity and ensure proper identification of all specimens.
- Prepare samples for laboratory testing, as needed.
- May perform reagent preparation.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance and calibration on equipment, as needed.
- Identify and clearly document sample issues or discrepancies and work with client to resolve, as appropriate.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to email requests with professionalism and a high degree of courtesy and responsiveness. Research and resolve complex issues with follow up to customers in a prompt manner.
- Use written and verbal communication skills to provide exemplary customer service to internal and external customers, and appropriately documents interactions.
- Ensure maintenance and organization of departmental records, and execution of reagent and supply inventory control process as needed.
- Perform training activities and provide mentorship to trainees assisting junior and peer staff members with complex issues, and may support the assessment of staff competence, as appropriate.
- Oversee that daily tasks are completed in a highly efficient manner.
- May participate in validation and implementation of new processes or equipment, and support Controlled Document processes to ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are accurate, compliant, and up to date.
- Maintain all applicable competencies and performs duties, and maintains sufficient Continuing Education credits, as applicable per laboratory policy.
- Support scheduling process, and work weekend and holiday rotations as needed.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification

- Complies with all standard operating policies and procedures
- High School Diploma required
- equivalent required
- Two years attendance at an accredited college, university or technical college with emphasis in a science/medical related field preferred. preferred
- Mastery of Laboratory Support Specialist duties, responsibilities, and behaviors required
- Ability to read, interpret, and write documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and other department manuals. required
