- Under the direction and review of a CBUD Credit Underwriting Manager the CCU is responsible for underwriting, evaluating, and making independent decisions/ recommendations for Commercial and Business Banking loan requests. This includes but is not limited to, evaluating obligor risk ratings on both new and existing relationships ensuring quality and soundness for credit transactions.
- The CCU should develop a thorough understanding of tax returns and spreading financial statements, assessing standalone and global cash flow sufficiency relative to debt service requirements. In addition, the CCU should review and evaluate industry information that relates to a transaction in order to question and validate the underlying assumptions about borrower viability and market conditions.
- With guidance from a CBUD Approval Officer or CBUD Credit Underwriting Manager, the CCU will evaluate and define the conditions under which a loan may be closed, including but not limited to appraisal and environmental requirements, insurance requirements, and KYC prerequisites for parties to the transaction.
- Assists with approval and commitment process, helping to ensure compliance with Loan Policy/Loan Underwriting and Administration Guidelines LUAG) and accuracy of documents and supporting exhibits.
- Develop familiarity and expertise in accessing and working with the various information and reporting systems used by Portfolio Managers to monitor and manage loan portfolios and client relationships.
- As needed, assist with maintaining timely renewals of loan maturities with Portfolio Managers and assigned lending team and complete annual reviews of commercial banking relationships.
- Facilitate borrower financial reporting submissions to Bank. Responsible for evaluating financial performance of borrower and based on a variety of factors determining an appropriate risk rating. Under direction, may assist Loan Officers and Portfolio Management Team Leaders in obtaining required information from clients/prospects by interfacing directly (i.e. phone calls; electronic communication; customer/prospect visits).
- Formal Credit Training
- At least one year of prior Commercial Credit Analysis experience
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience.
