
Sr. Fabricator & Maintenance Technician

- Responsible for building all types of tooling necessary to complete testing projects
- Assist Engineers with development of new test methods.
- Accurately estimate time and tooling required to perform new test methods
- Provides timely feedback to engineers on observations and progress
- Follows the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
- Consult with other technicians / engineers & internal clients on various issues, regarding test results, as required.
- Assist in the development of tests specifications / methods with direction from senior staff.
- Maintain test equipment, supplies, lab cleanliness
- Identify, troubleshoot and make recommendations for solutions to technical issues.
- Provide feedback to department manager regarding departmental systems, processes and meeting department / quality objectives and recommendations for improvements.
- Direct communication with the lab supervisor and engineers to ensure that the testing goals and requirements are understood.
- Problem solving and process improvement
- TIG, MIG and Arc Welding (overhead, horizontal, vertical)
- Use of plasma cutter and oxy/acetylene torches and power/pneumatic tools (angle grinders, die grinders, chop saw, etc.)
- Create assemblies & shapes/pieces
- Tool and Die: select appropriate materials in tooling that balance cost and strength
- Understanding material hardness requirements per application
- Machining, manual mill and lathe, micrometers and callipers.
- Follow the guidelines set forth in the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc. Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Comply with Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc. management systems in accordance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
- Responsible for bench designing all types of the tooling necessary to complete complex testing projects
- Train junior and temporary employees as needed
- Responsible for identifying and implementing shop improvements
- Responsible for tracking and purchasing shop consumables
- Electrical: relays, switches, wiring, outlets, breaker boxes, sizing of wire, multi-meter
- Repair all power and hand tools
- Troubleshoot electrical systems
- Pneumatics/Hydraulics: properly size and mount cylinders based on specific needs of projects, select proper fittings, pressure/flow relationships
- Plumbing (PVC, copper, and iron), soldering, pipe threading, balancing flow in piping systems, understanding flow/pressure relationships, proper sizing of pipe and fittings
- Perform routine and proactive facility maintenance
- Maintain and update preventive maintenance (PM) systems
- Coordinate vendor activities and project implementations
- Manage equipment repairs and technical support
- Perform facility inspections and ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform interior and exterior building and grounds maintenance and repairs
- Respond to emergency facility issues
- Perform site security duties
- Coordinate maintenance work orders
- Support company events
- Support as needed for facilities janitorial team for large projects and backup when primary is off duty.

- Thorough knowledge of plumbing, electrical, MIG and Arc Welding, machining, pneumatics/hydraulics
- Proficient in precision measurement tools
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Certified in forklift truck operation
- Technical aptitude
- 2-year technical degree and 6 years industry experience; or
- High school diploma (vocational diploma preferred) and 8 years industry related experience
