- Must possess knowledge in all areas of responsibility (law, district policies, and district procedures).
- Must be computer literate with at least the ability to send and receive email with attachments, produce memos, navigate the internet as required by position responsibilities, accurately complete and submit forms or reports as needed, etc.
- Must read and comprehend written instructions, policies, and procedures.
- Must be attentive to details, a self-starter, able to work effectively without constant or direct supervision, must be able to multi-task.
- Must be of good moral character.
- Must have good communication and organizational skills.
- Teach academic and functional skills to educationally and physically disabled students.
- Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students using various instructional techniques and technologies.
- Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by the SDE, Board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Regularly assess students' accomplishments by testing them, recording grades, and providing progress reports to parents and appropriate professionals as directed by the district.
- Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
- Establish control in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, the student handbook, and administrative regulations.
- Take reasonable caution to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- If needed, assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional material.
- Be responsible for supervising the proper usage of teaching supplies, classroom equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings, required professional development, and/or any other meetings required by campus or district administration.
- Maintain acceptable attendance and punctuality according to district policy and campus expectations.
- Sponsor and accept responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned or approved by the campus or district administration.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, and parents. Strictly follow the Code of Ethics for Oklahoma Educators.
- Cooperate with other staff members in planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Work to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Accept and respond appropriately to supervision.
- Provide lesson plans as expected by campus administration.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or designee.
- Confer with parents, administrators, testing specialists, social workers, and professionals to develop individual educational plans to promote academic, physical, and social development.
- Other duties as assigned.
