The function of this position is to manage, direct, and accept accountability for all field activities and reporting functions associated with the construction of assigned homes in the community. The Construction Manager provides leadership in and manages the coordination of all activities within the new home construction process for the community, thus optimizing the effectiveness of TradePartner™s, ensuring compliance with Shea Homes’ customer satisfaction and quality assurance standards, and maintaining a safe work environment. Additionally, the Construction Manager will be mentoring other Field Managers in their roles as they strive for promotion. The salary range for the position is $135,000-145,000 plus quarterly bonus.Knowledge/ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required; BA/BS degree preferredProficient in facilitating all facets of constructionMulti-lingual skills preferred * Coordinate Community start-up and model construction
  • Monitor and correct TradePartner™ performance
  • Successfully analyzes plot plans to identify inaccuracies: correct lot usage, grading requirements, retaining walls, foundation steps
  • Effectively delegates responsibilities to direct reports
  • Knowledge of subdivision declarations (covenants, controls and restrictions)
  • Manages plans and redlines
  • Develop, mentor and train field construction staff
  • Develops and reviews IDP/IPA performance appraisals for Field Managers.
  • Works with Customer Care and Sales in order to identify opportunities for community improvement
  • Able to supervise a complex project at a high production pace
  • Able to coordinate large projects involving multiple entities
  • Strong knowledge of all residential construction techniques
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and geo-technical issues
  • Conducts weekly on site TradePartner™ meetings to ensure compliance of all trade requirements
  • Supports and displays alignment with division goals and procedures
  • Takes full responsibility for the professionalism of the community members
  • Verify and identify that all structural portions in the home are installed correctly
  • Active in improving quality through open communication and data collection
  • Possesses the ability to manage and analyze construction budgets
  • Helps in the selection of new TradePartner™s
  • Manages TradePartner™ conflict resolutions for the community
  • Facilitates quarterly community reviews
  • Facilitates the CMR meeting on their community
  • Comprehensive critical path planning involving site work and vertical construction
  • Participates in the administration of corrective action plans for direct reports
