3% effective 12/9/24 ($63,570 - $81,146 Annually)APPLICATIONS MUST BE SUBMITTED ONLINE ONLYThe Fresno County Department of Internal Services is offering an exciting and challenging career opportunity for skilled maintenance professionals interested in a position as a Building Maintenance Engineer.Building Maintenance Engineers install, maintain, and repair a wide variety of mechanical equipment in County-owned facilities. This is a journey level (experienced level) classification and is expected to use appropriate procedures and techniques in accomplishing assigned tasks.Please note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities. Fresno County detention facilities are "No Hostage" facilities. This means in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release.Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.Eligible candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.Samples of DutiesKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum QualificationsOPTION 1:Experience: Four (4) years of full-time, paid work experience in the crafts/mechanical trades field performing maintenance, installation, and/or repairs on mechanical equipment in a commercial and/or industrial setting.OPTION 2:Certification: Possession of a certificate of completion from an accredited college, apprenticeship, or trade school in the crafts/mechanical trades field.Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience in the crafts/mechanical trades field performing maintenance, installation, and/or repairs on mechanical equipment in a commercial and/or industrial setting.In addition to the options listed above, the following are also required:License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.Other: As a condition of employment, selected candidates will be required to obtain and maintain security clearance to access Fresno County detention facilities.TO PREVENT THE DISQUALIFICATION OF YOUR APPLICATION, PLEASE NOTE:
